Getting off the template three competitors shared

A pest control company found out its website was, structurally, identical to two of its competitors' — same layout, same stock icons, same chat widget. We gave them a site nobody else in town has.

The old site was built from a franchise template package — the same one, it turned out, that a roofer and a plumber across town were also running.

The problem

Westcoast Pest Control had been bought a website as part of a marketing package from a national reseller: a template with the company's initials dropped in as the logo and stock photography swapped in for the hero image. It worked, in the sense that it loaded.

The trouble surfaced when the owner mentioned the site to another local contractor at a trade event and realized they were running the exact same layout — same accessibility icon in the same corner, same chat bubble, same generic nav. For a pest control company competing mostly on trust, showing up identical to two other businesses in town was a quiet liability.

It was also thin on substance: three vague service bullet points, no way to request a quote without calling, and nothing telling a homeowner in a neighbouring suburb whether Westcoast even covered their address.

The approach

Three moves, in order.

01

Build a mark that belongs to them

A shield-and-check identity in teal and navy replaced the initials-in-a-box logo, giving the company something no reseller template could hand to a competitor next.

02

Name the actual services

Ant and insect control, rodent removal and termite inspection each got their own clear card instead of one vague paragraph, so a homeowner knows in one glance whether Westcoast handles their problem.

03

Let people request a quote without picking up the phone

A short form captures property type, the pest concern and a preferred date, and routes straight to the scheduling inbox — answered same day instead of whenever the phone line is free.

The work

What we built.

The new homepage

The new Westcoast Pest Control homepage on desktop and mobile: a teal diagonal colour block reading Pests do not stand a chance, beside a technician at work.
The homepage that replaced the template. A diagonal teal block and a cut-out technician — a layout no reseller hands to three businesses in one town.
The services page: a three-card grid for Ant & Insect Control, Rodent Removal and Termite Inspection, each with a line icon and a short description.
Three services, three cards, no ambiguity about what Westcoast actually does.
The request a quote page: a form with property type, pest concern, address and preferred date fields, and a Get My Quote button.
A quote request that takes under a minute, and arrives with everything the office needs to schedule the visit.
The service area page: a stylised city map with a shaded coverage zone, beside a list of served neighbourhoods with response-time badges.
A service area a homeowner can actually check, instead of finding out by calling.

Also delivered

Local SEO structured for each service and neighbourhood, so “pest control near me” searches land on a page that answers the question rather than a generic homepage.

Site that no longer looks like a competitor's

“Finding out our site was the same as another company's was embarrassing, honestly. Now when someone lands on it, it looks like us — and the quote form means I'm not the one answering the same three questions all day.”
