When the problem can't wait for a form
A burst pipe doesn't wait for a contact form to get a reply. Swift Plumbing's site buried its phone number behind the same generic layout as every other trade on the reseller's platform. We rebuilt around the moment that actually matters: right now.
The problem
Swift Plumbing runs on two very different kinds of customer: someone scheduling a water heater install next month, and someone standing in an inch of water right now. The old site, another copy of the same reseller template running across three unrelated trades in the area, treated both the same way — one generic form, one generic response time.
For a plumber, that's a real cost. A homeowner with a burst pipe isn't going to fill out a form and wait; they're going to call whoever answers first, and if the site doesn't make the phone number impossible to miss, that's a lost job in the first ten seconds.
The site also gave no sense of coverage — nothing telling a customer in an outer neighbourhood whether Swift would even come out, which mattered for a business trying to grow past its original few streets.
The approach
Three moves, in order.
01
Split urgent from routine, visibly
A dedicated emergency page leads with a tap-to-call button above anything else — no form, no fields, just a number — while routine requests get their own shorter booking flow.
02
Name the services in plain terms
Leak repair, drain cleaning and water heater installation each get a card of their own, replacing a single paragraph that tried to cover everything at once.
03
Show the coverage map
A service area page with response-time badges by neighbourhood lets a new customer check before they call, instead of finding out Swift doesn't reach them after they've already described the emergency.

Also delivered
A callback-tracking number on the emergency page so Swift can see, for the first time, how many jobs the site itself is generating versus word of mouth.

Emergencies routed through a contact form
“A burst pipe doesn't care about a contact form. Now there's one number, right at the top, and that's the difference between someone calling us or calling whoever's next on the search results.”
